Healing complex trauma
with an integrative, transpersonal ego state therapy
An experiential workshop for trainee and experienced psychotherapists and counsellors, facilitated by Mary-Clare de Echevarria
This is the first in a series of workshops on trauma, touching on PTSD and focusing on C-PTSD or complex trauma, otherwise known as attachment or developmental trauma. These workshops offer an overview of trauma and healing and quite detailed content, integrating many different treatment models, and are also very experiential; small groups allow for plenty of time for demonstrations, practice and questions. They are designed for those who have read or heard about new ways of working with trauma, or perhaps attended conferences or seminars, and would like an opportunity to learn how this exciting new material looks and feels in practice.
Complex trauma and dissociation have been a missing piece in psychotherapy from the time of Janet until recent decades, and understanding and working with them will transform your practice; doing so is also, I believe, a deeply transpersonal process of opening the heart and healing our disconnection from our true self.
The content of the weekend includes:
- The neuroscience of attachment and complex trauma, how it develops and how it can be healed
- How to recognise C-PTSD and dissociated states, or ‘ego states’
- The three phases of trauma therapy: stabilising and resource development, metabolising traumatic experiences, integrating into life (the rubedo stage in alchemy)
- Relational psychotherapy: being a real, attuned person for your clients
- Working with the body and the creative imagination to resolve past trauma
Healing Complex Trauma currently runs twice a year, in the summer and late autumn, in Warwick Avenue / Maida Vale; further workshops in the series are offered directly to those who have completed the first.
Next dates and times: 30 June – 1 July 2018, 10.30 – 17.30 (12 hours of CPD)
This weekend will be run in a smaller group than usual, with more time for individual attention.
Cost: £310 for the weekend, or £270 early bird discount if paid in full by 1 March 2018
For more information, or to be on the mailing list for future weekend dates, you are welcome to call Mary-Clare on 07748 683510 or email email@example.com. To book a place on the workshop, please contact Mary-Clare for bank details. A non-refundable deposit of £130 secures your place. Early booking is recommended as these weekends sell out quickly.
Participants must be in therapy or have an ongoing source of support and grounding, eg a regular yoga practice. I will talk with each person before the workshop, face to face if possible; this is part of the booking process.
